Paintings
Midori creates expressive paintings, using acrylic, oil, ink-wash and mixed media. Her love for literacy gives her endless inspirations for her work. She often ties between the story of the red string and other stories, e.g. Shakespear, Greek mythologies and Japanese folk tales, and creates brush strokes freely on her canvas.
She also does Japanese sumi-e (black ink) paintings. Her works are held in private and corporate collections in the UK, Europe, USA, South America, Japan and Australia.

Sumi-e
Sumi-e, or Japanese ink painting, is a delicate and precise art form that requires the artist to work with a single brush and capture the essence of the subject with every stroke. Each brushstroke has a rhythm and flow, and once it’s made, it cannot be erased, making every mark all the more meaningful. When creating my Sumi-e artwork, I work with maximum concentration, allowing myself to become fully immersed in the process. For me, this is a moment of joy and appreciation for the beauty of the subject and the art form itself.
