Origami Workshops at Japanaroo 2021

Japanaroo will take you on a short trip to Japan in Sydney.

Feb 2019

The new Japanese project in Sydney will be on 20-29 August 2021!
I will run two origami workshops at Kintsugi Australia Studio in Sydney CBD.
There are many reasons to do origami. I often say that origami is yoga for your brains. A nice exercise is good for your healthy life.

I will collaborate with Kintsugi Australia and offer you the workshops. You can choose one of the dates listed below.
Sat 21 August 11am-12.30pm
Sat 28 August 2.30-4pm

More info please go to: https://classbento.com.au/l/4jdz-w

My origami installation at the gala concert will be at the Sydney Conservatory of Music on 20 August, too.

Interview by Consulate of Japan Sydney

Interview by Jessica Scott

Honoured to be interviewed by the Consulate of Japan.
I was very excited and nervous at the same time about my interview by Jessica Scott from the Consulate of Japan, Sydney.
I am the 10th person to be interviewed, so, I have seen all Jassica’s interviews.
All of them are amazing people in Sydney.
Anyway, I love talking about origami and my projects.

Join us for the origami project!
In April and May 2021, Japan Foundation in Sydney (Level 4, Central Park 28 Broadway Chippendale NSW) runs the origami project. Anyone can join the fun.
You can make a samurai hat and it will be a part of the koinobori.
This project was well-received at an origami workshop in Tonga, 2019, which I was invited to by The Japan Foundation. I particularly like that this project is based around the concept that people can work together to create a large collaborative work while anyone can participate in at their own pace.
Furthermore, I think this is a project that suits our current situation, where social gatherings are restricted but our desire to be connected with others remains. The Japanese hoist koinobori every year in May, allowing them to swim in the blue skies of spring in Japan. It is these koinobori that wish for children’s good health. I wish that our origami koinobori brings us similar good health here.

311 Paper Cranes

Folded With Love

311 paper cranes
My 311 Paper Cranes installation was displayed at the East Japan disaster commemoration event.
Big thanks to my helpers. I couldn’t have done so well without them and I received a lot of nice feedback about my installation.
Mr Kiya, the Consul of General in Sydney congratulated me for making it.
The main stage events also went very well. I was honoured to meet energetic performers, wonderful volunteer staff, visitors and the sponsors that evening.
The event was on the news on TBS and the reporter was Hiroki Iijima.
